to reach youth and their families
by offering love, support and guidance
in their spiritual growth and development.
At Cornerstone we seek to "be a movement of devoted Jesus followers..."
Through calling for commitment to the vision
Through building relationships & becoming a "family"
Through life-on-life discipleship
Through approaching equipping and discipling primarily as a family venture
Through a
holistic approach of doing ministry. In other words, by attempting to minister by mixing generations, cultures, genders and talents. There are necessary times to minister to specific ages, genders and needs, but our emphasis at Cornerstone is on discipling as a family unit.
At Cornerstone we seek to empower people to "use their time, talents, energies & resources..."
By helping individuals find their gifts, talents and calling
By giving people a safe place to try things and not fear failure
By waiting for a leader to be called before starting a ministry. This way ministries are not led by people who are not called to do so. If a leader moves away, then we patiently put the ministry on hold and wait and pray for a new leader to rise up. We do not start a ministry just because someone expects us to have one.
At Cornerstone we seek to "reach youth and their families by offering love, support & guidance in their spiritual growth and development..."
- We believe that God has called us to this mission field - Youth & Families
- We believe that a healthy family is one of the greatest places to learn about the love & nature of God.
- We believe that there is an unprecedented crises in today's youth & families and that God wants us to make a difference by reaching one youth and one family at a time.
- Our plan for accomplishing this vision is by
- Following the lead of the Holy Spirit in order to know where God is already working
- Praying for youth and their families, for only God can open hearts enough to change
(This is why we have a Weekly Prayer Guide with a family focus.) - Creating a loving, church family that can come alongside hurting & broken families
- All of the adults (and youth) at Cornerstone serving in their area of giftedness in order to reach out to others
- Offering practical help, training and classes to youth and families that are struggling
