We support the Lemon Grove Food Bank which operates out of the same building that we meet in, the
Fellowship Hall of the Lemon Grove United Methodist Church.
The Food Bank is open everyday from 9 a.m. - 12 noon and provides assistance for those who can prove they live in Lemon Grove and are low income.
Cornerstone's Ecclesia Youth do a 30-Hour Famine every May and while they fast from eating for 30 hours they go door to door and collect canned food for the Lemon Grove Food Bank. In 2007, the Youth Group was divided into 3 teams and had a competition to see who could collect the most. Pastor Mark's team won the prize!
Cornerstone also supports the monthly Seniors Commodities Distribution hosted by the San Diego Food Bank (SDFB) on the 2nd Thursday of each month. SDFB brings a truck with boxes of non-perishable food items to the
Fellowship Hall of the Lemon Grove United Methodist Church and a representative from Cornerstone meets them there to help distribute the food to the senior citizens that show up to receive them.
