Questions about our Gatherings

Q: When & where does your church meet?
A: Cornerstone gathers on Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Lemon Grove United Methodist Church (3205 Washington St., Lemon Grove, CA 91945). Click here for map & directions.

Q: What should I wear to your church?
A: Dress in the way you feel most comfortable. People wear shorts, jeans, sports jackets and dresses.  See Sunday Gatherings.
Q: What should I bring if I visit your church?
A: Simply bring yourself and an open heart.  If you would like to bring a Bible so you can follow along in the discussion, then please feel free to do so.  We also project the scriptures up on the screen.  See Sunday Gatherings.
Q: What is your worship like?
A: We believe that worship is a way of life and is done 24/7 by each individual in their daily walk with God and also in their community gatherings.  At Cornerstone's weekly gatherings we attempt to express our communal faith through prayer, teachings on and discussions about God's Word, a variety of music, drama, dance, poetry, meditation and painting.  See Sunday Gatherings.
Q: How many people attend Cornerstone?
A: There are around 100 people who call Cornerstone "home" and on any given week there are about 65-75 who gather together to share their faith with one another on Sunday morning.
Q: Where do my children go during church?
A: Cornerstone loves youth & families!  So we do not have a problem with families keeping their children in the main Worship Gathering.  We also provide the following places for youth & their families:

Adults with youth ages birth - 2
During our Worship Gathering we provide a room where a parent can stay with their child and watch the service through a closed circuit television system.

During our Worship Gathering we provide a Kids Room for youth ages 6 months - 6 years that is staffed with qualified and screened volunteers who delight in sharing God's love with young children.

Youth ages 5 - 11 years old ~ Kornerstone Kidz
During our Worship Gathering, we offer a Children's Church for youth ages 5-11 years old.  We ask that in order to join this class, the child be 6 years old, in 1st grade and be able to read.  In Children's Church, the young people are empowered to ask questions and give input to the teacher on what subjects they would like covered.  They are also encouraged to help lead worship and discussions, write their own dramas and worship music, and develop ways to serve.  They often join the main worship gathering and will occasionally perform a drama or dance or lead worship.  Every week they take up an offering to buy goats for the poverty stricken people of Bangladesh.  They are working on purchasing their 14th goat since they began this project 2 years ago.

Teenagers ages 12 - 18 years old ~ Ecclesia Youth
Teenagers (ages 12-18) are encouraged to participate in our main Worship Gathering.  Most of them have ministries that they are a part of (such as playing in the band, singing on the worship team, running the sound board, ushering, etc.).  We value the presence and the voice of the teens in the Worship Gathering Discussions and we believe that they need to be trained up as the new leaders at Cornerstone.
